On Sunday, August 26, in Townsville, Australia, India lifted the Under-19 World Cup 2012 by defeating the hosts by six wickets.
In the final, India, led by captain Unmukt Chand's unbeaten 111, powered to victory while chasing 226.
Here are brief profiles of each of the 15 members who won the World Cup for the country.
Unmukt Chand (Captain, Delhi, 19 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (6 matches, 6 innings, 246 runs, 1 hundred, 1 fifty, 1 wicket. Highest score 111 not out. Average 49.20)
Chand finished the Under-19 World Cup 2012 with 246 runs with a century in the final and one more fifty in the tournament. He was the leading run-scorer for India in the World Cup.
He played a magnificent knock in the final with an unbeaten 111 off 130 balls with seven fours and six sixes.
Right-hand batsman, opener. Also plays for Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has played 11 first class games for Delhi, scoring one hundred and four fifties.
He hit one century and a fifty in the Under-19 World Cup 2012. He finished with 246 runs in the tournament.
Before the World Cup, he had hit back-to-back centuries in Under-19 Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur. Also captained India in the tournament where the team were joint winners after final ended in a thrilling tie against Pakistan.
Akshdeep Nath (Vice-captain, Uttar Pradesh, 19 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (6 matches, 46 runs, 1 wicket)
He did not enjoy a good World Cup, with just 46 runs and one wicket.
Right-hand batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler. Yet to make first class debut. Played in Under-19 Asia Cup in July. Has played three One Day games in the domestic Vijay Hazare Trophy last year.
Akhil Herwadkar (Mumbai, 17 years) (Did not get a game in the Under-19 World Cup)
Herwadkar is a right-hand batsman and offspinner. He has played one Ranji Trophy game for Mumbai, against Orissa in 2011.
Vijay Zol (Maharashtra, 17 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (6 matches, 6 innings, 151 runs, 1 fifty. Highest score 72 not out. Average 25.16)
He scored 151 runs in the tournament with one half century. His best was 72 in the World Cup.
This left-hander made headlines in India in 2011 when he slammed an unbeaten 451 for Maharashtra Under-19 against Assam Under-19 in the Cooch Behar Trophy. This was a record first class by an Indian, beating 443 by Bhausaheb Nimbalkar, achieved in 1948. Zol has been continuing to score big runs. He was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore this year but did not get a game. He hit a 109 not out against Pakistan in U-19 Asia Cup recently but India went down by 1 run in a thriller.
Sandipan Das (Bengal, 19 years) (Did not get a game in the Under-19 World Cup)
Das is a right-hand medium-fast bowler and right-hand batsman.
Baba Aparajith (Tamil Nadu, 17 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (6 matches, 6 innings, 171 runs, 1 fifty, 5 wickets)
He finished with a fine all-round performance winning back-to-back Man-of-the-match awards. He hit 171 runs and took five wickets in the World Cup.
Aparajith is an offspinner. At 17, he made his first class debut for Tamil Nadu against Baroda in November, 2011. However, his debut was hampered by rain as only 12 overs were possible in entire four days. So far, he has played four Ranji Trophy games.
Prashant Chopra (Himachal Pradesh, 19 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (6 matches, 6 innings, 172 runs, 3 fifties. Highest score 58. Average 28.66)
He scored 172 runs in the tournament. Chopra bowls legspin and is a right-hand batsman. He has played six domestic one day games.
Ravikant Singh (Right-arm medium-fast bowler, 18 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (5 matches, 5 innings, 12 wickets. Best bowling 5/21)
Ravikant came in as a replacement for the injured Mohsin Sayyed. Sayyed was down with dengue during the team's preparatory camp in Bangalore in the first week of August and could not travel with the team. Ravikant got the opportunity.
Ravikant was the joint highest wicket-taker for India along with Sandeep Sharma with 12 wickets in theUnder-19 World Cup 2012. He has had a five-wicket haul in the tournament.
Sandeep Sharma (Punjab, 19 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (6 matches, 6 innings, 12 wickets. Best bowling 4/54)
Sharma bowls right-arm medium-fast and bats right-handed. He has played three first class games taking three wickets. He took 12 wickets in the Under-19 World Cup.
Kamal Passi (Punjab, 19 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (5 matches, 5 innings, 10 wickets. Best bowling: 6/23)
Passi took 10 wickets in the tournament. Passi is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and right-handed batsman. Passi impressed by taking 10 wickets in the tournament.
Rush Kalaria (Gujarat, 19 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (1 matches, 1 innings, 3 runs, 0 wickets)
He played only one match and could not take a wicket. He scored three runs in that game. Kalaria is a left-arm medium-fast bowler and a right-hand batsman. He had a fine Under-19 Asia Cup recently, by taking 11 wickets including a five-wicket haul in the final against Pakistan.
Hanuma Vihari (Right-hand batsman, 18 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (6 matches, 6 innings, 71 runs. Highest score 31)
The boy from Hyderabad should consider himself lucky to be part of the World Cup winning squad as he came in as a replacement due to injuries to two players who were originally selected in the squad. Vihari replaced Manan Vohra Manan Vohra who fractured his finger in a practice match before the team left for Australia.
Vihari plays first class cricket for Hyderabad. He has played seven match already. He has one fifty and overall 232 runs in his short first class career.
Smit Patel (Wicketkeeper, Gujarat, 19 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (6 matches, 6 innings, 178 runs, 2 fifties. Highest score 62 not out. Average 59.33)
Smit scored 178 runs in the World Cup with a highest of 62 not out. A right-hand batsman. He has played a lone One Day domestic game for Gujarat earlier this year. He has also represented Gujarat Under-19 team.
Harmeet Singh (Mumbai, 19 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (4 matches, 4 innings, 6 wickets, 24 runs. Best bowling: 3/35)
He hit the winning runs in a tense finish over Pakistan in the quarter-finals. Harmeet is a left-arm orthodox spinner and left-hand batsman. He claimed six wickets in the World Cup. He has played three first class games. He made his Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 17 in 2009. It was an impressive first game as he took seven wickets in the game. Mumbai won that match against Himachal Pradesh. He has claimed 17 wickets in three first class games.
Vikas Mishra (Delhi, 19 years)
Under-19 World Cup Stats: (3 matches, 3 innings, 2 wickets, 3 runs)
He played three matches and took three wickets in the tournament. Mishra, the left-arm orthodox spinner has already shown his talent in Ranji Trophy. He has completed 50 wickets. In 15 games, he has taken 55 scalps. He bats right-handed. He was also a part of Delhi Daredevils squad.
