How to unlock Blackberry Curve 8520
Before we look at the basics involved in unlocking the Blackberry Curve 8520, it perhaps makes sense to answer a few of the most basic frequently asked questions. While the more tech savvy among you will already be aware of the advantages of unlocking smartphones, others may wonder why you might want to unlock your Blackberry Curve 8520 in the first place. After all, the phone was locked to a specific network for a purpose, right? So when you download a code from giffgaff.com to unlock Blackberry Curve 8520 could you actually be doing something illegal?
Well the answers to these questions are yes: the network locked the phone to try and keep you tied to their contract and pricing plan – and so people unlock their smartphones to access cheaper service deals. And no: using a code to unlock a smartphone is not illegal.
As you will have noticed, buying a new Blackberry Curve 8520 is a lot cheaper if it is supplied by a mobile network along with a new contract, rather than sourced directly from the manufacturer. The network subsidises the phone to entice your custom, and then locks the phone so that it can only work with a sim from that network. This is a way of keeping you in contract, and making monthly contract and service charge instalments, which then pay off the real value of the phone. However, it is actually illegal in the UK to sell a smartphone that cannot be unlocked – to find out more about this look here: http://ask.ofcom.org.uk/help/telephone/unlocking.
While unlocking your phone is not illegal, if you want the network operator who supplied the phone to unlock it for you, you will generally be required to fulfil part of your contract, as specified in the small print. Each mobile network provides different contracts and therefore has different rules about this. Some will provide an unlocking code for a fee after a portion of the contract has expired, while others will insist that you make every scheduled monthly payment for the full life of the contract, after which they will unlock your Blackberry Curve 8520 for free.
However, while you are still under contract with the original network provider, downloading a free code from giffgaff.com to unlock your Blackberry 8520 will allow you to take advantage of cheap sim only deals. This can save a significant sum if you will regularly ‘roam’ with your Blackberry outside of the UK.
So how does the process actually work? Well, as mentioned the unlocking code can be downloaded free of charge, in which case you have a choice of two services, the first will deliver the code within 24 hours, the second you may have to wait between 7-10 days to receive your code. Alternatively, you can pay a small fee, which will result in a code being delivered to you within a couple of hours. In either case, you will need both the IMEI and MEP ID of yourphone to be able to initiate the process, but these are quite easy to obtain – for more information on this, look here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb-ABHUOLuc&feature=youtu.be.
China Becomes Latest Nation to Launch Dedicated 3D TV Channel
China has launched its first dedicated 3D TV channel, making it the latest in a line of countries hopping onboard the 3D bandwagon. Sky launched the first ever dedicated 3DTV channel in Europe in 2010, while viewers in Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, America and Latin America can all enjoy dedicated 3D channels at home now too.
Chinese broadcasters, and TV manufacturers, hope that the new channel will encourage Chinese consumers to switch some of their 500 million standard TV sets for 3D-capable ones, providing a much-needed boost to the country’s economy in the process. Users of one of China’s Twitter alternatives, Sina Weibo, gave a mixed reaction, with some keen to try out the new service, while others are planning to wait until glasses-free 3D TV sets hit the shelves and become more affordable before making the TV upgrade.
Current 3DTV sets use two main methods of creating 3D imagery with 3D glasses worn by the user. Active 3DTV sets require battery-powered glasses, containing LCD lenses, which display a separate image for the right and left eye in quick succession using rapid-fire shutters. Passive 3DTV glasses, on the other hand, don’t require batteries, as they use polarisation to project two separate images onto the right and left eye at once.
However, new generation 3D-capable TV does all of this image trickery onscreen, with the TV screen coated in a special filter, so glasses aren’t needed for the viewer to experience the 3-dimensional effect. These autostereoscopic3D TVs, or Auto 3D TVs, use tiny lenses to sense where viewers are sitting, and essentially aims 3D imagery at the left and right eye of each viewer.
With some users put off by the need to wear special 3D glasses, the success of 3D TVs may rest on the effectiveness of this new glasses-free technology, as well as the range of 3D programming available.
Content is growing, with Sky reportedly considering adding a dedicated 3D sports channel to its range of channels this year. Their current 3D channel has already meant that football fans could enjoy the European football championships in 3D, as well as the Formula One British Grand Prix and Wimbledon finals, and sports fans can also look forward to the first ever 3D coverage of the Olympic Games when they kick off in London on 27th July this summer.

Movie Review: The Dark Knight Rises
Part of the problem here is the level of expectation I had going into this final chapter. The first two chapters, Batman Begins(2005) and The Dark Knight (2008), were incredible films, packed with a level of depth not previously seen in any comic-book adaptation. My desire for this third movie to match its predecessors in quality is a tall order in and of itself, but part of me had been hyped to believe Rises would be the best in the series.
And it's true — Rises is a decent film that, sadly, finds itself falling into a trap of convention. In this film Batman will be put in an "inescapable" prison and work to defuse a ticking bomb. It's all the same typical crap we've seen in dozens of other films, and these overused clichés fail to create the tension that Christopher Nolan was likely hoping for.
At times everything looks so bleak — so extremely hopeless — that it becomes borderline silly. It was hard for me to buy into Bane's (very) elaborate terrorist plot, largely because I just couldn't accept it as being possible in the real world. Both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight walked the fine line of reality and total fiction; however, the film's were able to keep the action on screen grounded enough to make the plots believable.
In The Dark Knight Rises Bane hijacks a nuclear bomb, blows up bridges to isolate the city of Gotham, and holds the United States hostage. It's like a wet dream for War on Terror fearmongers, and it's just too ridiculous to take seriously.
While the audience is well aware that Bane plans on blowing up the entire city, he still spends a lot of time pretending to lead a revolution in the name of the people of Gotham. Yes, Bane is so evil that he likes to give people hope before destroying them — at least that's what he explains to Batman.
Nolan moves in the direction of social commentary here, but never quite achieves his goal. There is some mention of extra police powers, but we see no real indication that Gotham has become a police state. We also have no idea how the economy of Gotham is doing, how happy citizens are with their government — nothing.
It makes Bane's "revolution" angle all the less believable. Would you have hope that a guy hijacking a city with a nuke is actually on your side?
There are aspects of the plot I really like, particularly how Rises ties the three Batman films together so perfectly. Bane is a student of the League of Shadows, the secret organization lead by Ra's al Ghul (as seen in Batman Begins), which gives a nice twist to the story that I didn't expect.
The other newcomer to Nolan's Batman, Selina Kyle (Catwoman), is another very pleasant addition and, in my opinion, Anne Hathaway playing the role is a near-perfect match. Hathaway sells the action, con-artistry, and romance with a level of sophistication and sex appeal that was completely unexpected.
I only wish that Catwoman had a largely role in the overall story. Selina Kyle has a lot of depth and background that the movie explores, but only to a limited degree.
I hate to keep trashing on the story in Rises because, all things considered, it isn't that bad. There are elements of the narrative that work really well, and I was absolutely blown away by the ending. This is Christopher Nolan we're talking about — he doesn't make a bad film. The Dark Knight Rises is loaded with memorable scenes, and everything in this film looks absolutely fantastic.
Still, this isn't the conclusion to Batman I had hoped for. The Dark Knight Rises is a good movie, a decent finish to the trilogy, but a huge disappointment nonetheless. The Nolan Batman trilogy will earn its place in the halls of film history; however, I can't help thinking that this last chapter could have been a whole lot better.
Olympics: India to appeal against overturning of boxer Vikas Krishan's match result
New Delhi: India will appeal against against boxer Vikas Krishan's ouster from the London Olympics. Indian Chef-de-Mission PK Muralidharan Raja said that the Indian boxing team will protest against the International Boxing Association's (AIBA) decision to overturn Krishan's result.
"We are looking at the video recording of the bout. In our opinion, fouls were committed by the American opponent as well, he too should have been penalised. The matter is subjudice, we are preparing our reply. We want to bring to the notice of the jury the fouls committed by the. The team manager will handover the protest officially," Raja said.
A row has erupted over Indian boxer Vikas Krishan's exit from the London Olympics in the 69 kg category after the decision of his bout was over turned. The Indian Olympics Association (IOA) is also crying foul.
IOA Vice President Tarlochan Singh has called the decision 'wrong' and 'political'. "This is a very wrong decision. Everyone could see the fight and everyone saw him doing it. We were winning a third medal with great difficulty and they deprived us of that. The jury should have scheduled a rematch, that's in the rules as well," Singh said.
Hours after he reached the quarter-finals in the 69 kg category, boxer Vikas Krishan was declared out of the London Olympics. The result of Krishan's bout was overturned by International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) on Saturday morning.
Twenty-one-year-old Krishan had moved into the quarter-finals of the men's welter weight (69 kg) category by prevailing over Errol Spence of USA at the ExCel Arena in London on Friday night.
The AIBA declared Spence as the winner and four extra points have been awarded to him. The final score now is 15-13 in favour of the American boxer.
"There were a total of nine (9) holding fouls committed by the Indian boxer in the third round alone. However, the Referee only gave one caution," the AIBA said in a statement after a review by its competition Jury.
"In the second round, at the time 02:38, the boxer from India spitted out his gumshield intentionally. However, the Referee didn't give any warning," it added.
Based on these "findings", the jury members "unanimously" decided to award Spence four points, thereby making him the winner.
"Based on the AIBA Technical & Competition Rules 12.1.9, the Referee should have given at least two (2) warnings to the Indian boxer. Although the boxer from India intentionally spitted out his gumshield, the Referee's view was blocked by the boxer from the USA and was not able to see the action," the international body added.
Spence will now take on Andrey Zamkovoy of Russia in the quarter-finals.
